Chip Tuning 1.4 D4d 90ps

Hi all. I want to buy an Auris 1.4 d4d (90PS). Tomorrow I'll go for a test drive. I'm afraid that the engine is too weak. I don't have enough money for 2.0 or 2.2 diesel engine at the momment. Therefore I would like to increase the power to 110PS (chip tuning, cost approximately 400€). I know that this type of diesel engine is not reachable in all markets but in my country it is. I reviewed the forum and unfortunately I did not find anything on this topic. Can anyone help me please with experience or opinion. Freshman will really appreciate it very much.

Thank you and

BR from Slovenia

Afraid the engine is too weak for what?? I have a T180 avensis and drive my OH's 1.4 auris and im not disappointed with it. It drive nicely, quite nippy around town and is pretty good on the motorway. In fact around town I would possibly say its even easier to drive as it picks up a little quicker. Sure its not got the power and refinement of my avensis but I am happy to drive it when she lets me.

As for chipping it no idea why not just wait and get a more powerful engine in the first place??

Hi and welcome to TOC. I am a fresh owner of an Auris 1.4 d4d. I have also a renault megane 1.5 dci 82hp wich is a lot quicker al low speeds. I hope things change after some kms (now my auris have about 1000 kms). Despite the road noise i feel in the car, auris is a plesent ride. Interior of the car is quite nice and big, behind the wheel feels like driving a much bigger car.

Regards, Dan

Thanks for reply and welcome. Today I had a test drive with the 1.4 D4D 90HP. And I am excited! The engine pulled well (I was surprised) and it was relatively quiet, only at 160km / h Auris becomes a little louder but it's not annoying.

I think I have decided wink wink

Hi - I bought a new Auris TR 1.4Diesel MMT in January 2009 and to date have about 2000 miles on the clock.

I find that the car is a very good performer both on local roads and motorways. The car is not a gasl guzzerler and I hope it returns much more miles per Litre when it is run in

The only 3 things I have to mildly complain about are:

Thr car loses acceleration from a standing start.

The computer keeps giving unbeleivable information

The internal trim is too plasticy for my taste. that may be because I have been used to Mercedes.

However I am pleased with the price I paid, in Toyota,s "Once a Blue Moon offer"

regards

Fred

I think you need to change up a gear to keep in the very narrow torque band . You could easily import the chip from Germany for less.

You can do a full ECU remap, it can give you more 15 to 30HP, without any troubles.

It's much better than a powerbox, since it can reprogram all settings managed by the ECU.

But be sure you find a very good person, that knows very well the 1.4 D4D, and knows what he is doing - this is the tricky part of ECU remap.

It can cost you from 150€ to do it, it all depends on the artist...

Good luck.

You can do a full ECU remap,
Never seen anyone who can do this on the Auris.

The topic is about the 1.4-D4D, and since E12 that ECU remap can be done on this engine...

I have a 1.4 D4D and have recently chipped the car with a tuning box which I bought straight from eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:AAQ:GB:1123

My experiences with this El Cheapo box are very good. My 2008 1.4 D4D is notably quicker under all circumstances.

The car comes much better out of corners. 2nd gear is very powerful now and it easily spins the front tires. Esspecially on motorways the extra torque in 5th gear is very welcome. Overtaking is so much smoother now.

The car drives and feels like it has a more larger engine.

Installation took maybe 2 minutes.

My figures (last evening on the motorway)

Max KPH : 182 (GPS 175)

Fuel cons. : An avarage of 4,6 liter/100 KM @ speed 120 KPH (With airco switched on and driving with CC)

Hmmm :!Removed!: if they are so good then why has that eBay seller got 9 negative feedbacks and chosen to hide their feedback comments????? What has the seller got to hide??? Have you tried opening the tuning box???

Is it a 1 cent resistor inside like the vast majority of tuning boxes sold on eBay?????

If they were so good then wouldnt there be nothing for the seller to hide??????

Did I have a negative experience with this eBay seller ? No, in fact he did me a great job afterwards.

Do I have negative experiences with this tuning box ? No

Did I open the tuning box ? Yes

Was there more then one simple resistor ? You bet

The topic starter asked for experiences with boxes and I gave MY opinion, which are positive.

Feel free to do with it what you want movistargsxr ;)

Thank you all for your answers. I bought a 08 black well maintained Auris 1,4 diesel. I decided that I will do ecu remaping, it will cost me app. 400 EUR (90HP > 110HP; torq. 190 > 230).

I am very happy with concrete experiences described by the pong38. Apparently the extra power and torque are both well notably while driving. thanks

You seem to have taken up my comments wrong. Yes, everyone is free to express their opinions and that’s what I did. I was not accusing you of anything and it was not intended to be personal.

I was not questioning your experience or judgement of the tuning box. It is good that you shared your experience of this tuning box so that we can all benefit from it.

I just mentioned that the eBay seller has 9 negative feedbacks and has chosen to hide feedback. Yes you had a good experience but 9 other people did not. I was not questioning the product; this feedback could be from other products that the seller had sold or other issues.

I also just asked the question whether you opened the box or not?? I was not accusing you of anything. Now everyone can benefit from knowing that this tuning box is worth purchasing and is not just a resistor which a lot eBay sellers sell without saying this.

Did the cruise control come with the auris or did get it fitted after you bought it??

Happy motoring

Ok, I think there was some misunderstanding in this.

Yes, the cc handle is delivered but I haven't installed it yet. I have also bought the original parking detectors and a new frame so that I can use my own 1-din Becker car radio/satnav/carkit/Ipod etc etc :D

But I need to reserve one or two days in my and my friends agenda (he owns a garage) so that we can install everything in one time.

Sorry not to update you on the CC question. But be sure that I will come back to you either with a positive or a negative answer B)
