Opinions On Steering Column Issue

Hi,

I was hoping I could get some opinions on a parts problem I have. I need to replace the steering column/universal joint on my 1998 Avensis and there are some new ones being advertised on eBay (seller has 3 identical). Everything matches up (model code/engine type/vehicle model and age) but Toyota say the part number I need is slightly different and of course want to charge me 5 TIMES the amount of the part on eBay!

What to do?!

An update for anyone who searches on this issue in the future...

The parts are one and the same, though the parts numbers are different. Toyota changed the part number after a few years, possibly because the supplier changed, but the part is still the same. There is a record against the Toyota EPC stating **Rev.Ref.No** for the part.

To clarify, the old part number is 45200-05110 and is perfectly suitable for a '98-on model Avensis, no matter what Toyota say!
