hi all! my carina is due mot in month but dont know if its scrapping time or worth forking out on mot.

the potholes in my area combined with my steady speeds lol knocked out the tracking pretty bad. i took it to be lazer tracked but this hasnt sorted problem.

the garage said that most cars wheels are inward or outward facing but mine are dead straight with little leeway. is this true and are there any other possible damage i could of done?

Some cars will toe in while others will toe out and some are parallel.

Potholes and speed humps can damge all the suspension components, you will find out if there is any damage when it goes for an MOT, or you could just ask to get things checked over beforehand.

Have you had the tyres and wheel balance checked, it's easy to twist/bulge a tyre or knock the balance out.

Did the garage enquire when your MOT is due? I'm surprised you opted to get the tracking done before the MOT as any suspension repairs could result in the tracking being required after repairs, or did the garage do a thorough check on the suspension before setting it up... not all garages will.

PersonallyI would take the car in for it's MOT now (the last 28 days of the old MOT can be added to the new one effectively giving you a 13 month MOT if it passes) if it fails you have the remaining time on the current MOT to deceide whether to fix the car up or get rid of it.

cheers to be honest the mot has crept up on me lol i got the tracking done straight away cause the wear on right tyre was noticable after only 2 weeks, to be honest tyres do need changin on front so that could be prob too jus worried costs of repairs will exceed the cars worth but then again thats the joys of second hand bangers
