Hi Guys

New to website and new to Toyota.

Been stuck with dreaded Vauxhalls for the last 3 years !!! :censor:

Here's my dilema:

Have just taken delivery of my SR180 company car and I want to chip or tune it.

However: It needs to be descrete and easily removed as it is a company car & i could be up the creek if anyone finds out.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Would like it to be £200 or less if poss

Info will be greatfully received.

Thanks

definitly would not go near the engine. i asked the same when i was talking to a toyota technicial and the ecu of the car will record any attempts to manipulate it or change the program, so when you next go in for service bang there goes ur warantee, and ur company wont like tht

That's not neessarily like that. There are some programs which won't leave any trace. But it's not a chip, it's just re-programming!

Best regards, Alex

mate trust me on this, my car is on contract hire through a company and trust me, the warantee people are ***** hot on this because they can use manipulating the engine in any way in order to get out of paying out for a fault, ive looked into this already deeply. dont go near the engine, you have been warned

If the car is a company wagon and it gets smashed up with a tuning box installed, that will potentially invalidate the company insurance policy, they could easily call that gross misconduct and you will get sacked. Is it really worth it?

I have had the same thoughts with my Passat, if you had a bump on a dark rainy motorway would you really have chance to pop the engine cover off and remove a plug in and play unit, i doubt it.

On a happier note  welcome to the club

cab curtains my thoughts exactly

Thanks guys

I was almost succumbing to the fact that it was almost impossible and the issue of a crash in the dark etc etc is really my biggest worry.

Guess I will have to wait 3 years, buy it off them and have it re-mapped then.

On another note, does anyone know of a sports exhaust that fits this car?

Thanks anyway

im not sure putting a sport exhaust on a diesel would be a good idea mate, also ive looked at this too and the engine has a incredibly sophisticated particulate dpf system so im not even sure toying with it is a good idea, again could be a warantee issue? best advice i can give u fella is to go have a chat with your local toyota dealership and speak to the mechanics in the service dept

If you mean just a sportier looking backbox and pipes then there is the toyota (tte) kit : http://www.tte.de/popup/TF1/cm_auris_E15_silencer_TF1.htm

Its just a visual add on, adds about 16KG in weight and will only give you potential increases in the 4k rev range when the engine is chipped. Apparently the air flow in the standard exhaust isn't enough to cope with the extra peak power.

As for EGR this is done on the engine side so it won't matter.
