Low Idle ! Tempary Or Permanent Cure ! !

Hi all, after many hours of trying to sort out the low idle on my

x reg yaris, i gave in and adjusted the screw on the accelerator

cable/ throttle body ! i adjusted the idle speed to about 750 - 800

rpm, this was after a long drive home from work, so the engine

was at its best temp ! i did think this would cause me trouble when

starting from cold, but it is spot on now, it has also made gear changes

smoother, that little bit of extra air has obviously fooled those pesky

sensors ! !

I had the same problem a few years ago and considered doing the same but was concerned it would affect the emissions at MOT time. I did eventually fix the problem by cleaning the MAF sensor with electrical switch/contact cleaner, I followed the instructions on a previous thread (with pictures).

To view the thread type ' P0171 system too lean (bank 1),I need to troubleshoot a P0171 error ' in the search box above.

Best of luck.
