Shocking Mpg

Bought my 92 2.5 td auto surf a week ago can anybody help clarify a few things please

is the trip counter in kms ?

been looking through forums for mpg stats seems 25 to 30 is a decent figure

According to my trip i'm getting 105 kms for my £20 which is roughly 60mls so i'm getting 15 mpg

thats in town and driving so slowly its annoying

no fuel leaks no smoke that i can see

Can anybody help cause if thats it then the surf has to go :( cant afford to run it at 15 mpg

dont use the trip. Fill it, run it for a coupla 100 miles then refill and work it out manually its the only accurate way

When was the last service?

I have just replaced the filters (air, oil, fuel) and the belts (cam, 2 alti, fan).

When I swapped the fuel filter I used some cleaner and it has made the car smoother and also bumped the MPG up a bit.

Guessing its a km trip counter with replacement mph speedo face - my mk3 pickups like that. Just do a journey you know the distance of and see how it compares on your trip!
