If its the worst thing about my car i'll be pretty happy tbh. Had the sloshing in the last one didn't really bother me too much!, dash rattles would annoy me a lot more, maybe I was lucky but my last one was fine. Counting down the next 8 weeks is going to seem like forever with no car :(

Hi,

I am new to this forum and would just like to take this opportunity to say hello. As the title says I have just ordered a white 5 door SR180 but have 8 weeks wait for delivery of it worst luck :( This is not my first Auris though, 3 months ago I purchased a black 5 door 2.0d4d SR ( till some silly drink driver decided to plough into it and write it off) I really did like the car even though it did have a few faults - squeeky breaks (worse in reverse) and had the sloshing fuel noise and started getting rusty wheel nuts. I was wondering if any of these issues have been addressed? I am guessing the car I will be getting is not even built yet so may have in some way been revised / updated. I liked my last Auris so I am hoping this one will be as nice to drive as only tested a t180 dressed up like sr180 57 reg with the sunroof and push button start which I am told is slightly different to drive than an official SR180 is this true?. Any of you SR180 owners have any words of advice or tips please let me know :D

Hi I did it the other way round, test drove a SR180 and bought a T180 :D

The engine and gearbox are the same, so you will the same tourque power ect as you test driven.

I believe the SR180 is lower as standard than the T180 therefore you may find it handles a bit better.

Hope you enjoy it, it is very nice car.

Indeed, the SR180 is lowered 35mm all round with Toyota Motorsport Suspension.

Also has Mcphereson strut.

Handles very well and has so much torque its unbelievable.

I am very pleased with my car, although it doesnt have keyless entry or push button start.

I have it in Tacuma Grey (Metallic Gun Metal Grey) and it looks the Dogs !

Hope you enjoy it

Mechanically T180 and SR180 are the same accept SR180 has lowered suspension, but T180 still has multilinks all round.

I think the SR180 looks nicer but T180 has better value for the kit as standard, I chose T180 because of this.

Either choice is good in my opinion, but it depends on if you want the looks or the kit at no extra cost. I chose kit! ;)

Same for me, I do like the look of the SR180, but Im a gadget freak.

I also like the keyless entry and push button start, also the wife likes the electric sunroof.

I am also trying to make my T180 look a bit more sportier, this week it is going in for the TTE rear spoiler and the rear skirt with stainless steal twin exhausts.

You will enjoy the S180 alot I would imagine, but bare in mind 180 horses come at acost on fuel consumption.

use wisely if you can

I am assuming I should see about 40mpg?? depending how right foot happy I am  - again assuming that it comes with the optimal drive that makes it marginally better on fuel now. What avg mpg are you seeing on the on board computer?

My car has done a little over 500miles now and I am avering 33.5mpg at present.

I am still running it in and everything is tight si I am hoping rfor a vast improvement, plus, it is short journeys so far and I am quite a quick driver by nature so Iam not sure exactly how much better it will get

I have had mine for a year now and the best mpg ive had is 53mpg, But that was on a 80 mile journuey doing no more than 50mph ( I was following father in law in his Rolls Royce). On ave we get 33mpg with mostly town driving, the wife uses it more than me and she cant get the concept of not revving a diesel engine. When I drive around town ect I can get high 40mpg no prob, but you do have to be conservative, hardly going over 2000rpm.

Got the mods done on the back end as well now :D

Don't be shy lets see some pictures then :D

My T180 with new mods on back, needs a wash though. Piccys were took after a rainy 80 mile journey to Newby Hall, took so long to get em up due to work ect my apologies

Twin zorsts look mint

Been putting off getting them fitted. They were like 1k at the time and there was no way i was paying anyway near that back then.

there still not far off that fitted

They really finish the the car off nicely  , looks very sporty - shame about the price :ffs: still never say never I might in the future get them fitted to mine when it eventually turns up. does it change the sound of the exhaust note much to the standard exhaust or is it still pretty quiet?.

Yes it does finish the back end cheers. It dosnt change the noise the car still drives quiet. I am (i must admit) pleased about this though as I didnt want drony exhausts down the motorways. I didnt want loud exhausts especially from a diesel. Performance hasnt changed much either although I reckon it does allow the engine to rev a more freely,

I always wondered if it ever had an effect as they add about 20kg

There was someone with a chip running at 215bhp who say that without the twin exhausts there was not enough airflow at max power, popping and whistling; this totally changed with the twins.

Phoned up Toyota today to see how my order was coming along and was told it wont be ready till 29 July :fear: it was ordered on the 26th April, this seems an aweful long time as I was told 8 weeks - 10 weeks worst case scenario but probably sooner, just wondering how long other people have experianced waiting for there cars to be made?

Cant remember mine but my t180 was ordered within a few weeks of its announcement and only took a month or so.

How much did the exhausts and spoiler add to your insurance. I'm finding any mods really bumps it up by £100 or so.

We have ordered ours in December, delivery is expected on 15th July.

Probably because of the color, we ordered a white one.

Harder to deliver I guess.

it is a shame you have to wait so long, i work at burnaston where the Auris is made.

i have a lease car and mine has taken 12 weeks so you are not alone.

although toyota keep a small stock of each model to keep waiting times down the SR180 auris is not one. each one is built when ordered by a customer, this coupled with the fact that the auris production line is on permanent dayshift due to lack of sales is why the wait is so long.

although 6mths seems exessive, colour dosnt enter into it, mines white as well. i would be back at the dealer asking why it was taking so long.

They say it's because of the color.

If we ordered a black, silver or grey Auris we could have the car in 1 or 2 months.

I read somewhere on the forums that the rear roof spoiler is now an optional extra and does not come as standard fit.

Has anybody who has taken delivery recently any evidence to back this information up.

Regards,

Carlos.

Unfortunately they did add about that im afraid. The funny thing is I was with swiftcover and they said because I had fitted the spoiler they could no longer insure the car. If I had just done the exhausts it wouldnt have been a problem. I did point out that the spoiler didnt do anything other than cosmetic and if any of the mods were likely to give the car any boost on perfomance it would be the exhausts but they insisted. Insurance companys really are a rare breed.

My original insurance was £180 and I got it for £270 from Nowrich Union on line and I used Quidco and got a further £70 back so its cost me about £200 £20 more. but the original price is nearly £100 more.

I asked a broker why and he said "because people driving modded cars are more likely to crash" hmmm indeed.

Thanks,

One of the insurers tried to charge me £80 extra for tints, so i was curious what the exhaust and spoiler added.

Makes no sense, the sr180 comes with tints and spoiler yet it will add nearly £200 to my quote if i fitted them after.

In my experience if you make any changes you should leave the high street insurance companies and go to a specialist, our CTS pre mods was £100 more expensive with Tesco than post mods with Adrian Flux, there were no changes in personal details or policy changes except the excess is lower with Flux.

Bizarre

Maybe you could get them to accidentally fit the sat nav or leather trim to my car

No spoiler or tints on t180

Highlighted below is the post I read in early march, however I have just downloaded the pdf brochure from the Toyota Website and that is still showing the spoiler as standard.

And for other new owners e.g. SR 180 there is the additional cost of the 'Toyota Motor Sport rear roof spoiler' at £ 276 - the best bit IMHO.

1. they won't all have it (shame)

2. it costs more (for less)

3. if the dealer fits it then it may go wrong (fitting and/or paint job)

4. why change what was so cool (unless its not PC to have a spoiler in the new 'green' age)

Kind regards
