Recommended Tyre Pressure

Hi guys, this is my first post in the forum! I've just bought myself a 7th Gen year 2000 VVTL-i Celica and have a small question about the tyre pressure.

The alloys are 17" with 235/40 R17 tyres and would like to know what the recommended pressure should be for both loaded and empty. I don't have the owner's manual but I think the figures would only be relevant for 15" and 16" alloys.

Thanks in advance

Most of the Gen 7 owners on Celica Club are running 32psi for unloaded, maybe 6 more for loaded.

Did you know you have a very unusual Tyre size for the Car?, the OE size is 205/45/17 and I'm sure the handling will be better on a thinner Tyre.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I agree that the tyres are a bit wider than usual but they came with the car. They're still in very good condition so I won't change them just yet.

Will keep 205/45/17 in mind for my next tyre change. ;)

Are they standard Rims?, it could be that if they're after market they're 7.5" or 8" wide as opposed to the OE 7". You would need to find out before replacing the Tyres.

tyre pressure is governed by the car and not the tyre size . stick to stock pressure no matter what size tyre .

Check out also the width of your wheel before you change your tyre... 17" wheels are usually 7" to 7.5" if it's a 7" i suggest you go for 215/45 instead of 205/45 just to protect your alloys... would give extra good grip as well
