Corolla 2003 Dash Rattling Noise Resolution

Hi all,

Has anyone found the source of the dash rattling noise that is existent in the Corolla 2003 models?

Please help, the rattling noise is driving me crazy!

The rattling sound is coming from the dash area, near the HU and console. It only happens during low RPM <1000 or at idle.

If you guys are from Australia then come on the Australian Forums .(i'm guessing you are talking about the 03 Corolla Sportivo ) I know we have talked about this issue for a while...

I think there are plenty of potential sources for the dash vibration noise and it is probably a matter of luck and time for any technician to detect it.

Bad/loose connections-fittings-lockings etc. seem too frequent in this Toyota generation.

Poor Toyota service technicians suffer from the factory's production-engineering failures together with us!

rattle between top of the radio and console? thats the only one i know of, but then again CTS03 is an expert in Corolla noises, it sometimes seems as if his windows will fall apart

According to a newspaper article about the new Corolla Verso, Toyota has "applied new techniques and reduced 40-90% (!!!) the gaps/tolerance between parts".

It also improved the construction of doors "to be of similar quality with Avensis".

Apparently, Toyota has the same view with some of us about the current Corolla.

Let us wish that Toyota will care also to make some improvements in our existing Corollas.

I have a 2002 toyota corolla with a similar rattling noise coming from the dash. I took my vehicle to the local toyota dealership and it was broken transmission mounts and the idol was set too low.
