A Bit Of Rotation!

A bit of early morning madness, this morning (just in case it started to rain this afternoon....which it hasn't :D ).

A (nearly) pleasant hour and a bit, rotating the tyres on the battle-wagon....while keeping one eye on the lad riding his bike nearby.

Thought I'd bring the (up to this point) unused spare out for a breath of fresh air, (sorry all you tyre-kit and run-flat guys and girls for mentioning spare tyres  ) and do a little re-jigging.

After 22,500 miles the front pair were down to three milly-metrics and the the back set doing well with still 5 milly of life in them, a record for me :D .....my old RS Turbo ate through super sticky Yoko's on the front every 6000 miles :lol:

So I could have left well alone and shelled out for a set of fronts in the next month or two (I was quoted £105 fitted for in stock Bridgestones at the local tyre fitters....which isn't to bad  ) or flex my muscles for an hour and see if I can grap a little more from these tyres, especially the 'old' fronts, one of which is now on the rear and the other which is now a passenger. :P

So, hopefully they will see me through the summer and into the autumn. Well, that's the plan!:lol:

Shcm rotates his and he seems to be doing very well with them. I have never previously bothered but having just paid £230 for 2 on the front I think I might review my tactics.

They were a bit close on the shoulders but good in the middle as a result of wrong pressure I think. In the early days I had been advised by the dealer to run them at 2.0 bar instead of the recommended 2.2 which they are at now. The middle of the tread was a good 4mm and that was at about 18.5k.

Switched more worn fronts to rear at about 30000 miles (now realise that road safety wise that was probably not a good idea) but ended up replacing all four at 34k. May have been a bit more life in them but sometimes safety is more important. They were Toros and replaced with same. Mileage is 50/50 town/dual carriageway. I was reasonablt happy with 34k though I know motorway driving sales reps who get up to 50k from Mondeos etc
