Erratic Outside Temperature Gauge

Recommended Posts

The outside temperature gauge on my '06 plate Verso TR 2.2 D4D is starting to behave erratically. After a drive of about an hour, if I go out to the car later in the day (e.g. for a short school run) the outside temperature gauge is showing -25 degrees! I think it may be affecting the air con too as it never seems to blow cold in this state.

Faulty air temp sensor or something more sinister?

Anyone else had this?

With such an out of whack reading it would suggest the sensor is faulty. If the A/C is being fed a reading of minus 25 then I don't think it would bother switching on.

Thanks for that, couldn't work out if the air con was told what the outside air temp was. First MOT booked for next Monday, vehicle in warranty until end of May, my excellent local dealer have said they can look at it at the same time. Here's hoping it is just the sensor...
