Oil Leak

Hi all, I need help

I recently purchased a 1992 hilux surf 2.4td auto import. I wanted it for towing my caravan,thing is towed from Wales to Western Supermare

and back. Not too bad,then 7 miles from home had quite a stiff slow climb. Parked up and found a trail of oil running down from under gearbox,parked it on drive let it cool down and topped up fluid. Took it to be checked by mate no leak,drove it back and forth to work fine.Towed again 100 miles no probs,same hill on way home same thing oil pouring out on arrival at home.Oil comming from bell housing area, any ideas what the cause is and fix,
