Petrol Flappy/cover Thing

Hi all,

just a quick question - hopefully. After filling my car up a week or so ago the petrol cover came of in my hand. On further inspection it appears as if the bracket that holds the cover/flap to the bodywork has snapped. Half of the bracket is on flap and the other half is still riveted to the body work.

I have phoned toyota about a replacement and was quoted about £120 to get it fixed, that includes a new flap, bracket, rivets, spray and fitting. Cheap toyota parts quoted the flap with rivets at a slightly cheaper price. But that would still require painting.

Obviously getting a new one sprayed is going to make it look different to my slightly aged 03 plated paintwork. So as a last resort I was wondering if any of you have had this happen to you and if the flap I have could be fixed and re-used. Saving me a bit of money.

Thanks in advance,

Barry

You now have the perfect excuse to treat yourself to the Toyota Smoked Lid and chromed Fuel Cap cover from the USA. Last time I looked they were ITRO $190.
