Greetings.

As of Tuesday the 5th, i have ordered the 2009 Aygo Blue from my local Toyota dealer. Finally getting rid of my 2005 1.2 VW Polo (its a petrol drinking fiend for some reason) and i cant wait. Sadly its gonna be a 5-6week waiting time.

Anyways I have been browsing the forums for a few days and seem to notice various complaints such as;

No Glove Box Lid

Leaks

Poor audio.

Im not a tech savy person when it comes to incar audio, but is it really that bad using a 3.5mm aux cable with the Aygo sound system?

Hello and welcome,

Ive recently got a new Aygo Black and had the same concerns. So heres what Ive discovered:

1. I bought a glove box lid on eBay and it hasnt fallen down once. It cost me just under £30 delivered.

2. No leaks to report

3. The standard head unit of the stereo isnt much cop, but then most standard units arent. Ive fitted a Sony unit and the sound is spot on. the new speaker positions are pretty good. I think even a cheap £60-£70 head unit will give a vast improvement. To attatch most mp3 players you will need some sort of cable, so the Aygo really isnt much different.

Ive got a spare 1.2m Aux cable lying around the house so im not worried there. Just got word from the dealer that the delivery date will be around the 31st May, really cant wait.

Is it difficult to fit the glove box lid?

Replacing the stero isn't a difficult job, there is a guide on here somewhere.

If you are going to replace the head unit it might be worth looking for one that includes a USB port, they are becoming a lot more common now. I did this when I replaced mine and now all my music is carried on 2gb SD cards, and I have a small SD card reader attached to the USB port. Much easier to carry around than CDs and easy to change the songs if I want.

You also might have a problem with the Aygo bluetooth system and a new head unit.

I've had my Aygo for about 8 months now and not really missed the glove box lid, used to have a Ka so got used to not having a glove box.

To be fair the only thing i keep in my current glove box is my log book and Insurance Certificate. As long as i can make out my ipod through the Aux port i really dont mind. Im not into having digital 10.1 dolby in my car lol.

Not a good idea. The Aygo can be broken into within 3 seconds so keeping your personal details in the car isn’t recommended.

The Police will know if you have insurance by your number plate, and keeping your log book in here is an invitation for someone to sell it in your name as they have your details!

If you have an actual iPod instead of a generic MP3-player I'd recommend buying a dock-to-jackplug cable.

These improve the audio quality qute a bit compared to using the headphone jack independant of the radio that's used.

Cables can be found on eBay for a couple of £££

Here's ONE and here's ANOTHER

I bought an Aygo january 1st and got the glove box lid from the dealer fitted it was not that expensive and has worked without problems. I would recommend getting it, it is nice to have some stuff hidden from sight. Also I have had no leaking problems and Aygo has been even better than I thought!

For listening to music I have used standard audio cable and the volume must be quite high to get the sound of the iPod or iPhone. Using the dock connector should give a better sound. The standard radio is not the best but it works and I haven't bothered to replace it. If you get a new one, I think usb connection won't work with iPod.

Enjoy your Aygo when you get it!

Ill try out the 3.5mm aux cable when i get the car, if im not happy ill try the dock to aux alternative. I upgraded(downgraded?) from my polo to minimise cost, dont want to start having to buy lots of trinkets just so the car sounds good.

I bought a Sony Walkman or whatever the equivalent of my old tape player from the 1980's is and it is fantastic with the normal AUX connector with no loss of volume. And it lasts over 30 hours between a charge.

Can people stop buying Apple before they bring out iSex so it costs me to make love to my wife ? ***** !

Talk about sheep following brand marketing. STOP IT NOW !

I'm going to have to lie down on my iBed now to get over my iRant !

Regards

Andy

You can't compare a cassetteplayer (or Discman for that matter) to a modern digital audio player.

The "problem" with the headphone not giving such agood signal voor connecting to an AUX-input

is NOT specific for Apple, I believe Sandisk and Philips have similar problems, which can be

circumvented on thos by selecting a different level thourgh the menu.

Apple chose to use a standardized plug on the bottom of their products to carry this

signal, doing away with extra menu-items that most people don't want or need anyway.

Apple just seems to be able to think things through a little better...

And YES I AM a Mac-person, but not because of the brand: I just like stuff that actually works!!!

I personally have an Archos PMP and swear by it, but some people think they're too big and bulky.

It does everything I want, so it keeps me happy.

Each to their own.

Glove box lid takes a few mins to install, dead easy. There are just 2 screws to put in.
