...(black no longer available, platinum replaces it)...

Other way round mate: Platinum is now superceded by the Black ;)

I got very confused for a second there! Yeah, the Black replaces the previous Platinum model. The Black (and Blue) models are brand new and restyled for 2009.

I have a Peugeot 306 R reg which ive owned for 3 years. Although my mum temporarily borrowed it last year and we swapped the log book over and then back again when she returned it. It therefore shows I have only been the registered keeper for 9 months.

I personally would have waited another 3 months as the car (under your ownership) would have become then eligible for the full scrappage allowance. You would have lost nothing because had the scheme run out of money then you still would have gotten the same (if not similar) deal as you have today. Sorry, but you lost out here.

No as I said on thread called Platinum, the dealer advised black is no longer available from factory as the Platinum is now supercedeing this along with new price rise. Lead time on these new ones are 13 weeks.

No that was the 1st price rise, there is now another 200 on top of this last week, so list is now 9035 for blue and black (black no longer available, platinum replaces it) 5 doors, or 8695 for 3 door. Salesman at dealer also said that profit margin is lower as Toyota have also reduced dealer profit margin, so he cant offer same discounts on new prices.

C*h*r*i*s*t - I didn't know that they've jacked up the price yet again. :(

(it censored me !)

The New Aygo Blue will be worth waiting for - it looks good.

I'm confused too...

The January 2008 Toyota Aygo catalogue shows Aygo, Aygo+, Blue and Platinum.

The January 2009 Toyota Aygo catalogue shows Aygo, Aygo+, Blue and Black.

From that I assume that Black replaces Platinum.

Anyway, BLUE is the greatest colour -

Black is a nightmare to keep clean !

Aye i was told when i ordered my blue that the black is the new replacement, unless they are switching it back to the platinum.

On Friday the salesman I telephoned in local Toyota dealer advised that Black is no longer available as the factory have stopped producing them and that they are now starting production on Platinum. So I guess they are switching back to Platinum, maybe they are having 6 months each in a musical chairs sort of way. I was thinking about changing my order, to a black/platinum but the new price increase would make me pay 950 more than i am currently paying for my + to change model,so it was a non starter. Should have decided on that the previous week.

I wouldnt take what is displayed on the website as gospel, as they still have old prices displayed and that was from last weeks increase.

Hey Morden

DO you have more details of the actual price increases as there have been lots of numbers being past around.

The salesman quoted me £200 extra on top of the currenly listed prices on website/showroom pricelist.

Good thing we sorted out our new Aygo Blue (Gov Scrap Scheme for a Fiat Bravo) the other week then. Dealer is expecting it around 5th June. Hopefully it comes earlier. Bravo is eating fuel at the moment.

PS - I have found GAP Return to Invoice insurance for a much better price than the dealers (about 1/3 cheaper!)

I will wait to see the change in trims and any price increases when I see them. Dealers spout a lot of ***** to get a sale. Unless I see it myself I don't believe it.

Surely it would drink the fuel ;)

''The dispute between carmakers and the UK Government over the

car scrappage scheme has now been resolved.

Some carmakers had delayed the start of their involvement with the scheme,

expressing concerns about VAT arrangements and tax liabilities.

But after talks with the Government, all manufacturers have now

confirmed that they will take part in the scheme.''

Just phoned Toyota UK 0845 120 6070

and they confirmed that there was a price increase on May 9th in addition to the previous price increase on May 1st.

Glad I got the price for my New Aygo Blue 3-door manual fixed in writing at 6200.

Any increase now will hopefully just improve the eventual trade-in price.

I'm sure I'd still get 6200 for it when it's 12 months old.

YEY! its a boy , ok its a Aygo Blue.

Just picked up my Aygo Blue from dealership.

Ordered 5th may and now the proud owner of my little Aygo, also have sent back my road tax on my old car as had 4 months left to claim.

Dealer told me they are stopping production of Aygo Black and there is a long delivery time for the Aygo, and some people are having thier deposit given back as they can not say if and when they will get thier car.

Im glad i ordered mine at begining of May.

CONGRATS! I never saw the reason for the Black as the Blue offering BT and A/C is SUCH good value for money! Do you REALLY want halfleather trim? I'd take A/C every time...

Oh I don't doubt the prices have gone up. I am dead sure I paid a similar price for my Aygo [after discount] now as I would have previous to both these price rises...

Hmmm, I'm kinda glad I managed to get in on the order when I did. Glad I'm not affected by all these rises.

Wow you got that really quickly - hope ours gets here that quick!

I never did understand why they produced the Aygo Black - other than the different paint, you only get leather seats, steering wheel and gear knob along with 5-spoke 14" alloy wheels. Why would you bother, considering that the Blue has Manual Air Conditioning and bluetooth hands-free as standard - for the same price?

Well it's personal choice.

I test drove both a Blue and a Black with A/C and for me the leather interior coupled with the A/C (admittedly at an extra £490) gave the car a much more "luxury" feel.

This coupled with the simple fact that bluetooth for me personally would never ever be used and also that I prefer the sportier look of the alloys made my choice a simple one.

I fully understand other's choice of a blue - if I was a heavy mobile phone user it would of course make a lot of sense.

Talked with my dealer yesterday - my Black delivery date is still July 17th and he says they get daily updates on all newly ordered cars and if anything the date would come forward rather than slip back.

He also said he believed the new Platinum model is a Black (i.e. alloys / Leather interior) but with Platinum paint but that they had not had full details and were not taking orders for it at this time - he was waiting further info. from Toyota.

I know what you mean about it feeling more luxury, but £490 a big price on top for A/C that you get standard with the Blue. It is a personal choice, after all. I don't mind the less luxury feel and less sporty alloys.

In even the basic guise BLUE really stacks up [against the BLACK] - but when you consider the STYLE PACK (which adds alloys and front fogs lights) - the BLUE pushes ahead and remains much better car for the money in comparison. Luxury is not what the Aygo is about; it is a functional car that is an eager runaround - and is best in the BLUE for this reason (IMHO).

When I come to think of it, I don't understand why Toyota didn't put A/C as standard on the Black, and leave bluetooth out. Surely then it would be better value?
