can you hear the turbo spool up?

there are a few things that can cause this issue. the first thing to check is that there a no split or insecure hoses. if all these are ok then its most likely turbo related, a stuck wastegate or it has been known for the ceramic tubine wheel in the exhaust side to disintegrate. if you can rmove the lambda sensor from the downpipe you can see in with the help of a torch. another common failing of the CT turbo is the shaft snapping although this is usualy followed by lots of smoke

Pull the elbow off the intake side of the turbo and have a look at the blades. Try and give them a spin too.

Will give you an idea if the turbo is locked solid.
