Hi,

Just had a 20,000 mile service on my verso from Hills of Woodford, cost me £434 for that i got a service,

new front brakes with brake fluid change, air con filter change and air con gas, oil change and filter change.

They had the car for about 3 hours they also valeted and washed the car.

I have attached the bill with all the other bits and pieces, price came as a bit of a shock, is this about right for a 20,000 mile service

Stertcher :crybaby:

Just been quoted £655 for the next 3 services on my Verso 20 30 and 40k if I take out a service plan with the local Toyota garage. This covers all standard labour and parts on the Toyota schedule for those services.

Sounds very expensive to me, in Holland there is a fixed price for services. >> onderhoud_Verso_0107.pdf

The 2 year 30,000Km service cost €205 inc. VAT (~£185) this includes all the normal material (oil, oil filter, brake fluid etc.). This is what I paid last time, the only extras were the new interior filter and Wiper Blades (the check is part of the service the replacement, if necessary, is extra).

Also the air con gas surprises me, if you have a leak it is warranty if not why do you need gas? Did you request the air con service?

Looking at this price I think you could have had a weekend break in the city of your choice in Holland, and your car serviced for the same money, perhaps an idea for the next service!

The brake pads area about twice the price of the same thing from a motor spares shop, the labour is about twice the cost of an independent (front pads are 20 mins a side if that for a pro) as the dealer will be about £100 per hour labour. The Air Con has had a new pollen filter and re gas which is fair enough, how they can charge £60 for it to be serviced is another 40/45 mins at £100 an hour to remove the glovebox lid and change the filter then squirt the gas into Air Con system which for a mechanic is like you or i topping up screenwash.

Get the dealer to do servicing (which is basically an oil/air filter and a quick look for other work  ) so you get a stamp in the book and have anything else done by cheaper independents.

When booking a service always ask what this includes as most dealerships will normally charge over the top for a small job of oil and several filter changes (pollen, air etc..).

Had a Lexus IS200 before I changed the plugs, oil/filter, pollen and air filters. Cost me £130 on parts and 1.5hr of my time (didn't have a ramp or pit :( ) but Lexus dealership was asking for £695 plus vat!!! for the same job

Found that specialist are just as good, cheaper and definitely worth every penny.
