Clutch Junder And 4th Jumps Out

Hello,

I have a 1.0GS french made 2001 yaris.

The transmission on this car is somewhat suspect as the car junders when the clutch is released when there is sometimes enough humidity. What is the cause, effect and remedy for this problem.

Secondly and much more worrisome is that 4th gear jumps out under most engine loads but is worse from low rpm, I blipped the throttle from the engine bay and the engine did not rock so I suppose that the engine mounts are fine, the problem seems to mostly occur after 20 miles or so. this seems like the oil has thermally thinned out. The haynes manual suggests that the selector for and or the synomesh rings are worn. What are the causes and remedies for this problem. Reverse often 'crunches' too.

thanks for any insight.

Have you checked the gearbox has any oil?

Clutch judder can be caused from contamination of the clutch plate possibly from oil, worth checking if there is any sign of oil around the engine/gearbox mounting face underneath the car.

Jumping out of gear can be down to alignment of the selectors, there is a block on the outside of the gearbox where the cables connect to the linkages this could be worn.
