Gt4 Mystery Fluid

Hi all

i was helping a friend with an oil change on his gt4 when he accidentaly undone what he thought was the sump and sum fluid about 1.5L came out it smelled like hydrolic fluid so we thought brake or clutch but both resovoirs seems to be ok. when looking under the car you can see a black like tank when looking under the front this is what was undone. any ideas what the fluid is?

cant you take a picture of it an stick it on then someone will be able to help easier

from what you say you did undo the sump nut, check the oil on the dipstick what size nut did you undo ? sump nut is 14mm

no it was bigger than the 14mm sump.

we took it to the garage after, it was the gearbox apparently it holds about 5 liters anyway so its only missing a 5th but the garage is going to top it up for us to be on the safe side.

sounds like the transfer drain. it is fe fro the gearbox but will not drain the whole transmission. as long as the gear oil has been topped up then all should be well. drain plug is 24mm
