Ae86 Engine Starting Problem

My AE86 has been laid up for a few years (dry storage) and up until about a year ago was regularly started. However for the past year, due to work, family and other sundry distractions it hasn't been started and now it just will not kick into life. I've checked the usual things, petrol, sparks etc. but no joy. The plugs are dry so I'm of the view that fuel isn't getting through. I do have a mechanical aptitude (I built and maintained my rally car some years ago) but thought I'd ask if there is a regular thing that affects these engines if left for an extended period unstarted. I trust there is someone out there who will be able to hit the nail on the head for me!

About the car...............

It's a genuine UK facelift car, standard apart from uprated suspension, K&N and full Janspeed system. never been 'drifted' although it has been sideways on the odd occasion!

Pull the fuel line (the main feed) off and see if petrol's dribbling out.

Then put that back on and pull off the line after the pump.

Get the engine cranking (few secs) and see if the pumps working.

That gets 2 probs out of the equation :)

Problem tracked down to a non-operational fuel pump. Thanks to all who replied and pm'd.

The car's a 1986 facelift in black with 120k miles.

FOR SALE? looking for a few parts for an ae86 have u many spares, mechanical or bodywork?

I have some service manuals that show the pin layout for the connection under the steering wheel, the manual said that there should be seven pins in a four by two connection. The female side has the seven pins but the male side has six so that may be the issue.
