Misfire/hesitant Accelerating On St205 Help

Hi can anybody help me please i have a celica gt4 st205.

When i first start the engine everything is fine it ticks over n runs as it should but as the choke drops (up to the first mile) the car becomes extremly hesitant and judders harshly as you accelerate as if the turbo doesnt want to kick in , the engine becomes very unsettled and rumbles alot whey you accelerate as if its misfireing. In neutral the reves are jumping up and down 0.8 - 1.4 The car does this until it reaches running temperature, then goes back to how it should be (0.8 in neutral) then runs ok with good acceleration and no hesitation.

I have been scratching my head trying to cure this problem, i have replaced the Dizzy cap and rotor arm, Spark plugs and leads. but still the same.

Has anybody had a problem like this or any ideas on how i could cure this please

Cheers Simon

Fuel starvation would make sense but its running extremly rich as it is, i can always smell the fumes when i stop. i have reciently changed the fuel filter and i guess replacing the fuel line could be another possibility but ive heard its not an easy job.

I did have an error code a few months back which turned out to be the common 54 intercooler so i topped up the level and replaced the sensor and all was good light didnt come back on.

Twitch? when i accelerate the car judders if thats what your asking

im having simular problems with my 185 runs fine for about 15/20 mins holds boost pulls well though the gears then all of a sudden the boost drops of 2-3 psi and the cars holding back

iv check all the boost pipes all seem ok apart from the main air filter hose that fits onto the turbo its got a split iv tape it up and check it when the car is running and carnt see feel and air escaping

I'm having this EXACT problem right now and done exactly what you have, and have rich fuel. Here is my post I was about to make:

OK where to begin. Car been fine for ages. Filled up with full tank, run 90 miles and on way work in morning car starts up totally fine, no warning signs, then half way to work start getting misfire when I go on the gas. Come off and car drove along fine in idling speed, soon as went back on the gas, misfiring presumably (juddering like when your in too high of a gear). Pulled over, turned off, tryed start up again and nothing. Engine cranking over fine but no ignition, wouldnt start.

Got recovered home, left it overnight, took sparks out, cleaned them up and put WD40 down the hatch to see if the engine would choke. It did. Cranked it over for 10 mins and finally got it running. Sparks were very saturated when getting them out, and had a brown oily residue on them every time (later I presume contaminated fuel will come to that bit).

So, drives it around after getting it fired up again, and within minutes start getting misfires at 2000 revs-ish. Feathers the gas and go back on it and its fine, revs to 6000 easy no misfire and up to 50mph. Stopped/started the car about 7 times that day going short trips and started up fine every time, but always had the misfire at a few thou' revs, solved by feathering gas.

Parks car up at night, in morning wont start again, just turns over. I took sparks out, checked they were sparking, and they were. Checked the injectors were firing and they were, checked fuel was getting into bores by taking out sparks and turning engine over to let the fuel spurt up out of bores which it did, checked air was being sucked through which it seemed to be. Everything seemed completely fine.

Replaced spark plugs, the rotor arm of dis cap, cleans up everything, put fuel cleaner in tank. Tried again... absolutely nothing. Now here is the interesting part.. Thinking possible fuel contamination I went to get some more petrol in a jerry can, and put a few drops directly in each cylinder, put sparks back in, start engine and instantly it starts choking then goes back to not. So did it again this time with a bit more fuel and kicked in almost straight away. Took it for a spin around the block and no misfire at all. Parked it in my drive and left it idling for 40 mins and it cut out, and now wont start again.

I'm out of ideas as the fuel is getting in, the sparks are sparking and the air is there. Other than contaminated fuel or incorrect mixture I can't see why I wouldn't fire, and why it would when I put clean fuel in the cylinders.

Also, no engine management fault codes appear.

Only thing I havent checked is a fuel filter if it has one?

last thing first i dont no were the fuel filter his ??

ante look at it being contaminated fuel but my car starts every time i turn the key ??

dont think mines a misfire more like its holding back on boooost pulls fine upto 10/11 psi for the first 20/25 mins thn only pulls upto 7/8 psi so have to change gear more offen to keep it on boost not that i drive it everywere on the turbo if i pull over and leave the car for abit lets say 30 mins go for another drive the car will be sweet again ant checked for fault codes as dont no how to do that without going to a garage ??
