Hi everyone!

My Girl Friend has a 98 Toyota Starlet 1.3 (which seems to be great other than it likes the oil and the odd spot of rust where paint has chipped). I currently own a 94 Skoda Favorit Estate. It's easy to do DIY work on, and parts are usually quite cheap. Unfortunately it's become a victim of quite substantial rust on the front inner wings near suspension mounts so I am considering looking to upgrade to something else in the next year rather than keep patching it up every MOT and delaying the inevitable. I'm casting my net out quite wide but sticking to the banger (sub £1k) end of the market, so those of interest to me are Corolla, Avensis, Carina, or maybe a Rav4. If anyone has any recommendations on which ones/engines might be best they'd be gratefully received. I'm hoping for something that's relatively easy to DIY, has cheapish parts, and is likely to last a good couple of years :) Also I'm 6' 3" so plenty of room behind the wheel would be good, the Starlet is a little small for me :D
