My wife owns a 2003 2.0 t3x D4D D-cat avensis. It went back to the dealer under warrenty because it was emitting huge clouds of smoke every 10-15 secs, when i say it went back ,i mean about 4-5 times. we also lost the engine to safe mode once or twice.

The turbo was replaced on one visit to the dealer.

anothertime the engine was stripped back and rebuilt only to have the fault appear again less than a week later.

we have just got the car back after having the d cat system changed and would you believe it we have no loss of power and the smoke has stopped.

THANKYOU RRG ROCHDALE, we will be saying thanks in person as this has been a long drawn out affair and we appreciate all the hard work and hair pulling to get this far.

SO ANY OF YOU GUYS WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM HAVE THE D CAT CHECKED.

TOYOTA TEST LABORATORY ARE ONLY JUST GETTING TO GRIPS WITH TESTS ON THIS FAULT AS THIS FAULT IS MAINLY DOWN TO OLDER CARS. THIS FAULT IS NEW TO THEM.
