My Celica's Has Been Crashed

Hi, here goes my general question is whether my insurance company will 'right off' my car or fix it, but any other advice along the way will help.

My car is a 140 gen 7 2001 with all the extras.

The damage to the car is:

Front bumper totally smashed

Driver side wheel arch totally smashed

Rear bumper totally smashed

Driver side fog light destroyed

Driver side rear light cluster destroyed

Front driver side light damaged

Boot does not fit straight plus a significant dint

Exhaust hanging off

Driver side back wheel is not at an angle possibly 20 degrees approximately

This is the damage from a night time inspection and if there is any more damage I will edit or add to this list but based on this what do people think?

Additionally I am suffering from a bad neck and shoulder and may possibly go to the GP on Monday morning

Also will it make any difference the fact that the person who crashed into the back of me forcing me off the road is insured with the same insurance company as myself?

Obviously pictures would help this assessment and I will try to load some tomorrow to help

Thanks for any advice or help that gets thrown my way

Thanks

Hi

I assume you have been in touch with your insurance company...

they will send out an assessor to determine the cost of repairs, and if its uneconomical to repair you will be offered a settlement.

post some pics and get a few more opinions from members on here. neck injuries possibly whip-lash, make sure see your gp

Sorry to say but your Car will be written off :(

Hopefully the fact that both of you are with the same Company will speed up the payout. Don't accept the first offer though, it will be very low.

However it is repairable, most things are repairable just up to you how much ur going to spend. When i crashed my gt4 and took the front end out it would have been wrote off if i told them but i fortunately knew a guy who breaks gt4's and he had just got one in the same colour. Cost me 700quid for the whole front end if it was new parts from toyota it would have been 4 grand. It may need putting on a jig who knows but im sure if you shop around you will find cars being broke, eBay is a good place to start.

It’s not just the cost of the parts that could write your car off, it’s the labour charges! Also the damage that can’t be seen (i.e.: underneath) Very high chance it would be written off. Wheels at different angles is never a good sign, boot out of alignment could indicate the body could be buckled

As you were hit from behind by some careless driver I would be stinging them for every penny. Obviously driving too fast and too close, I would also be seeing if charges for careless driving could be brought

assesor will come out, or the car will get towed away for assesment chances are they will fit a jig to it to see the extend of the damage underneath but going by your description chances are its a right off.

get money then also put a claim in for whiplash

did the insurance know about any mods if there was any ?

Hi thanks for the replies,

I have contacted the insurance company today (Churchill) they took all the details, luckily my alloys were not on the car at the time of the crash.

The police are bringing charges against the driver as he admitted speeding in wet weather.

The car is getting picked up tomorrow and thankfully I will be getting my courtesy car as well.

I think I am going to try to claim for whiplash as my neck, back and shoulder are really hurting today.

There is also some further damage the driver side rear quarter has been bent inwards.

If the car is written off, does any one know what sort of price I might get for it? its a, 140, 2001, with 39k and full service history.

Just a ball park figure will be sufficient and any further advice would be helpful.

Thanks a lot

Not an easy question with your low mileage.

I'd advise you to collate info. on how much similar Gen 7's are on sale for, it will help when you battle Churchill for a decent pay out.

sorry to hear that.

of course if you have an injury then put in a claim for it but beaware that you can no longer say ' i have whiplash' and claim for it. you will have to undergo tests etc. i would reccomend visiting your GP and get him to look at it. it is normal to be a bit stiff after a crash.

it is not however good to claim for anything you havent got. claiming for whiplash when you dont have it is fraudulent and just increases everyones premiums incl your own as insurance companys will need to recoupe costs from some where.

like i say if you do have whiplash then yes claim for it but visit your GP first.
