Aircon / Heating Fan Cuts Out

Hi

I've had an Avensis for 2 years which was one year old when I bought it second hand.

Only recently I have discovered that, when I try and put the fan on a high setting, it cuts out. I can get it going again (usually at a low setting) by switching the aircon or fan off then turning the rotary fan control gently. It's feasible that the problem has existed since I got the car and that I just haven't noticed it.

Is it safe to assume that this is a problem or is it some strange "by design" behaviour?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like a dodgey switch or a dodgey connection between the switch and the fan. You will have to delve in there with a multimeter to see when and where the power is going to.
