Hello everybody,

I am Bocko - 23 year old, I always liked Toyota and it is time to buy my first one, I`m considering to buy the new Auris with 1.6 Valvematic. I checked the review here and I think it will fit perfect with my driving style. Does somebody has such model and any impressions?

Thank you in advance

Hey junglebrother, and welcome!

I doubt that many people on this forum do have Auris with Valvematic yet...

Best regards, Alex

Got mine 7 weeks ago, and I really like the car. Got 2400 kms on the clock and the fuel consumption is looking good. At 120 kms/h on the highway (in 6th gear) and a few kms in the city, the average consumption is 1:15,2 (according to the boardcomputer), at the gas station it's slightly more (14,8). I think this will improve with more kms on the clock.

The 132 bhp are sufficient, glad I didn't choose the 1.3 with 100 bhp, that engine is to light for this weight (in my opinion). I think the 1.3 is designed for the city (with the start/stop and everyting), or the Yaris, IQ and Urban Cruiser.

No change for the interior, still very easy to scratch, be careful! Haven't experiences squeeky brake or rattles in the dash so far, maybe they got it fixed for the new models (fingers crossed). I can recommend the navigation system (touchscreen and SD-card) with blue-tooth. It only has connection problems with the later Nokia models. Maybe that can be fixed with a software update. Be sure to check that.

Only problem I've experienced is changing from 5th to 4th gear. The shift stick doesn't move as smoothly into 4th gear as it does into other gears. Maybe it's a "wear in" thing...

Last week I had a problem with the car (not Toyota's fault) is a taxi overtaking me on the highway, the driver threw it onto my lane right in front of me and immediately slammed the brakes to make the exit, resulting in a smashed front on the Auris. No time to react or what so ever... Too bad I had parking sensors installed...

Good luck with your choice!
