Aygo - Have You Got An Alarm Installed

Recommended Posts

I agree with both 'sides'!

ie an alarm does give more peace of mind if that is what you want but doesn't really do much for you - certainly not the ones that simply sound a siren and annoy everyone.

Having had a 400bhp Cossie with £5k of hi-fi in it, I have been the 'let's do all we can to help minimise theft of and from vehicle' brigade.

That had a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser with Battery back up so if they cut the power wires it would still keep going, also an internal siren to deafen the b****rds, extra pin swiches 'hidden' so if they spotted say the 'main' bonnet one and opened it up the 2nd/ 3rd ones would kick in and set alarm off!, a separate Cat 2 immobiliser with transponder chip, a Cat 3 Disklok, a Tracker system, a pager with 2 mile range, doors delocked etc etc.

One big tip - if you DO install an alarm - DO NOT stick the supplied sticker on the window - the reason for this is that a professional will know the weak points of that alarm and be able to beat it potentially - DO stick another brand and/or a generic ''alarm system installed' backed up by a flashing LED on dash......

I still take care where my car is parked, leave nothing in view inside car, etc but I am not as paranoid as when I had the Cossie!

good luck to everyone who has an alarm but for me I shall save the money and pay my excess if the worst does happen!

I like my option, use anti-shatter film on the windows works well

Hi, agree with you but I did not fit it to get reduction in my Insurance, I fitted it for my own peace of mind. There will always be those who don't want an alarm and those who do, as I said before its up to the individual.I wish I had a pound for every time I have seen a parked car with bags of shopping and phones left lying on the back seats, asking for trouble.
