Water Pump Problem

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how long the water pump on my petrol 00 avensis will last till it goes completely, its leaking and I am keeping the water topped up. Trying to organise to get it done, so just wondering will driving it do it any harm as long as keep water in the system.

hello mate

as normal pump it can be repaired.

the main issue with pump is sealiing ring worn down that can be changed.

the coolant has all additives that prevent corrosion of pump parts.

Exactly as john905 said. If the pump bearings or seal give up the ghost completely you will be up the proverbial creek.

daft question but have you actually checked it is the pump that is leaking and not say a leaky pipe else where or the head has gone?

If it is the pump then as others have sooner rather then later as when it does go your stuffed.

Getting the pump done this evening, no point leaving it on the long finger.

No leaks tomorrow hopefully! :D
