Avensis Mk2

Hi,

Having seen lots of negative issues regarding this car on this forum, and having had one myself for a few months now with a few problems I would probably not expect of a Toyota,I was wondering:-

Does anybody have a high mileage car that has been trouble free?...particularly a 1.8vvti?

I am beginning to think the build quality is surprisingly low on these cars in view of the faults mine has had, which I have never come across before on the many cars I have had in my time!

Cheers,

Phil.

Hi,

Yes,sorry about that.Something over 120,000 would be interesting, which by modern day standards is not out of the way if serviced correctly.

There are plenty of old Avensis Mk1's used as taxi's in my area with mega mileages(petrol),but all Mk2's that I have seen are diesel.I haven't actually noticed anybody hear mention that they have a high miler?Any company car drivers

around?

Meanwhile,I am back to the main dealers again tonight with yet another (expensive) warranty repair!

I can feel an early part exchange for a Vectra coming over me...

Thanks for any comments,

Phil.

As a rule of thumb, if taxi drivers use them, they'll last forever as they need to do 100's of thousands, once a bad word gets round, it soon shows.

Thats why years ago you used to get loads of Bluebirds and Carina II's on cab fleets, then Primera's and Carina E's/early MK I Avensis, as soon as the Renault/Nissan Primera came out and the VVTi Avensis, most of them switched over to Octavia's/Superbs.

Ok,

mk1 avensis -

petrol, diesel

are brilliant cars

mk2 avensis

D4D engines - fantastic

Petrols - brilliant

mk3 avensis

again fantastic cars

mk4 / mk5

Good cars, but all seem to suffer from generic problems.

but so are other manufactures.

In wakefield we have 65 car fleet of Hackney Carriages.

15 are disable access

3 London cabs

the rest are E7s

the rest are

5 Skodas..... and ....

Toyota Avensis MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4 and 5.

Skodas sound like tractors, they are not refuned as Toyota will ever be, abit more and more people are transfering to skoda is

becuase they slighly cheaper to run

Ie where the avensis does 45mpg, the skoda does 50mpg

I am sorry to say, i rather keep my ears in tact. I love toyotas and always will buy toyotas.

120k is not high mileage

Maybe not for a Toyota! :D My car on 70,600. It was a ex-company car. Nothing gone wrong with it, and Ive had it for 6 months now and done just over 3000 miles.
