Gearstick Vibration

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have recently had new gear linkage cables and other 'dampened' components fitted to my 2007 1.8 T3X. This was done to cure a gearstick vibration in 2nd and 3rd gear. The vibration now happens in 4th gear only.

If I put my foot on the clutch the vibration instantly stops. What could be the cause and why has the vibration moved to a different gear? How can it be proved whether its coming from the transmission or the engine?

Thanks for any help.

Has the garage considered a problem with the engine mounts? The vibration should really be a simple cure as either the adjustment on the cables as at the 'limit' on 4th gear or the transmission mount bracket needs attention.

Hi gazza1286,

Thanks for your advice.

I am still waiting for the garage to get back to me. They were asking for advice from Toyota. Can you please clarify what should be done with the cables.

I have noticed that the problem is intermittent.
