About To Pick Up My Aygo Blue - How Do You Protect Paint

Recommended Posts

Posted

The day has at last come to pick up my aygo - blue. Went for 5 door with no extras. Was considering VSC - but budget was important. Hopefully car will be better than the c1 I am part exchanging.

Anyway was wondering when I should put any wax/sealant - any any recommendation. There are a lot of birds near where i live and i know i will be in tears come next week when they do their evil deed on my car.

Mer or Meguiers - that said ours has only been washed about 6 times in 2.5 years and no paint issues to report.

I use this in winter: http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-prodd...LGG&Range=1

And this in summer: http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-prodd...=FH&Range=1

For good car cleaning tips and advice, worth a look on here: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php

You'll want to practice good wash technique- Toyotas have butter-soft paint and prone to scratching from automated car washes and bad sponges etc.

Polish for a car is very much down to personal choice but stay with a polymer based product.

I have used lots of different ones over the years and hate those that leave that chalky residue

The one that I have changed to recently is Turtle Wax ICE which I find very effective and extremely easy and quick to use without that chalky left over

Whatever you use I hope you get the effect you are searching for :)

Hi There.

I use Harly Wax

HERE

As easy and shiny as it says.

And the occasional use......twice per year......used gently and sparingly......

3M Imperial hand glaze

HERE

My Aygo is now over 2 years old and is better than new.

Shiny as a shiny thing.

Use a good quality chamois, one around £15 to£20 pounds should do the job. It'll leave a skin on the paint after you dry it. Imo I wouldnt wax too much as it can be counter productive. Hand Wash and chamois is your best bet.

I am with Unklian as far as using the 3M Imperial hand glaze but I prefer to use it no more than once a year. It is a great product and gives a very nice result B)
