Hey guys, I just had my 3rd year service at Toyota Northallerton this morning, with the car just over 13,000 miles. The service went fine with the car showing no problems, just needing the liquids and oils refilled mainly. The staff was very helpful when i pointed out my glove box (the old one) was loose and wouldn't hold itself up and asked them to have a look at it as well. When the service was finished, I was told a new modified glovebox was fitted free of charge under warranty which i was very happy with, and i must say this new one is much much better than the old one.

I remember a while back someone in this forum posted a small description about the new glovebox but i didnt remember seeing any new pictures of it. Basically they were right in that, instead of a pulling handle, the new glovebox uses a slide mechanism where you push the handle downwards, releasing the catch so it opens . Overall it is much sturdier compared to the blu-tak i used to hold the old one in place lol

The whole service went great and only costed £99 while i was expecting around £120-160. I'd definately recommend Toyota Northallerton, as i had no problems with them whatsoever since i bought my car there.

Anyway, here's some links pictures of my car and with the new glove box fitted.

I was told I couldn't get the glovebox lid due to warranty issues or something. :|

Here's hoping it's something that'll snap in quite easily after I get the car.

The glovebox lid fits very easily......................Early Aygo's did not have one and some owners got the Peugeot version to fit their Aygo's

The latest version is an improvement

Wonder why they wouldn't sell it to me then....hmmm  . Ah well, does fitting one yourself void the warranty or anything do you know? :)

I doubt it...................but the dealer should be able to fit it in minutes.

My sons 08 Aygo Blue (Slate) had the existing glovebox lid replaced under warranty for the new design, even though he had not really had much bother with the old one.

The problem was that the lid occasionally bounced open when going over rough surfaces and the old catches were not very strong.

When i first bought my aygo it didnt come with a glove box, so i ended ordering one from the dealer and decided to fitted it myself, as i would probably have been charged more for labour  . Like Red Yaris 54 says, it should only take a couple of mins to fit, and shouldnt void the warranty as its a genuine part.

I'm glad i got it changed, my old one became really annoying cos it wouldn't close at all so i had to blu tak it on  But then after a few days, usually when i want to get something out i would have to pry it open cos the blu tak turns hard :P

Thanks for posting up the pictures of the new (and old) glove box - I couldn't quite visualise what people meant until I saw your pictures. Hope to get one installed once we get our Blue. Good stuff!
