Avensis Verso Air Con Not Working

Hi all, very new to this so will give as much info as poss........... I have a 2004 avensis verso, 2.0 D4D (diesel), the air con has stopped working, all fuses seem to be ok, filter behind glove box is a little black, however, when used in the past, you hear it kick in and the engine idles lower, this no longer happens, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks. Probably needs regassing, thats the most common problem. When the pressure gets too low, the low pressure switch will not allow the aircon compressor to run. This prevents damage to the compressor. Read the other recent thread on A/C. (from Kenny1000)
