hi kencat

i believe that they either have, run flat tyres,or the 'squirt in foam' you fill tyre with ,should you get a puncture.

but ,i share same feelings as you....,much prefer a normal spare wheel.

just 'feel' more confident with it on vehicle.

dont trust 'foam'

Or you can do what I've done, buy a spare, keep it in the boot. You will lose approx 20% of boot space.

A quick rub of my crystal balls tells me that the 'new' model will only come with one of the above... ;)

Glad I had a spare tyre on the back of my RAV :yahoo::yahoo: ... had a blow out on Motorway this morning. :crybaby: ..Rear passenger tyre deflated instantly....just loud rumble noise no loss of control...

Luckily I was in the inside lane... still scary changing a tyre on the hard shoulder so close the lorries trundling past feet away....:unsure: keeping one eye on them and the other changing the tyre....

Next RAV I buy will certainly be having a spare tyre available and no other gimmicky tyre fix.....:yes:

Can you explain exactly how you secured the wheel? Did you need to slide the rear seat forward?

I carry a spare when touring the wilds of NW Scotland but lay it flat in the boot which takes up a lot of space. I also have to move the rear seat. Fixing it vertically looks like a better solution.

Move the rear seat forward a touch, take the parcel shelf out, sit the spare against the rear seat back. Put the parcel

shelf back in, move the rear seat back so it holds the wheel in place between the seat and the parcel shelf bar without

any movement. I then put a ratchet strap through the wheel and through one of the cargo hooks (seen in red) and

tighten it up. Hope that explains it
