Rav 4 Alarm/immobiliser Problems Help!

Hi

I'm new to all this, I only got my Rav 4 a few weeks ago a VX 2.0 D4D 2003 - I was absolutely loving it until I started having problems with the car. Can anyone help? This is what’s happened….

I set the alarm using the key fob, when I wanted to get back into my car, I pressed unlock and nothing happened. I couldn’t get into my car after trying for about 10 minutes I gave in and manually unlocked it with the key but of course the alarm then went off! I left it for about half an hour, locked it with the key fob and then unlocked it again and it was fine! The other day I was at Halfords (luckily) and that same thing happened, I replaced the Battery in the key fob but it’s happened since then. One confession last night when I had the problems I did lock it with the key fob with the sunroof open, could this have affected it? Has anyone else experienced these sorts of problems? It’s just very random and very annoying/worrying as I do care work in the evenings and I’m petrified of being locked out of my car in the middle of the night!!

Doubt the sunroof being open would make any difference, I do that with mine all the time.

When it didn't work, did you try from various areas around your Rav ? How close were you ?

PS welcome to the club, that's a very nice blue Rav you have

Hi - thanks for your comments

I did wonder that about the sunroof but our next door naighbour suggested it and I thought I'd better listen to him seeing as I disturbed him with the car alarm!! anyway since monday everytime I've locked it I've shut all the windows and sunroof etc and its been fine, not sure if it a coincidence or not??! I did try the alarm in various areas all around the car and literally held it up to the window but it still wouldn't open..so I'm at a loss as to what it is..the only thing it could be from reading oldposts on here is the wires coming loose into the Battery..?

Thanks
