Hi all,

This is my first post here, so please be gentle.

I have taken advatage of the Scrappage scheme from Johnsons in Liverpool, and am trading in my 1998 Vauxhall Tigra to get a spangly new Toyota Aygo Blue with the Style pack.

It is supposed to arrive, according to the documentation, "mid June". I ordered it on 18th May.

I just need to know a few things

1) How good at they at sticking to their delivery dates? I only ask as the MOT for my Tigra runs out on 26th July...

2) How long before the delivery do they call you to select a license plate?

3) Can I cash in the tax disc when they take the car off me?

4) What is the process you need to follow when you get a delivery date?

1) Well i ordered mine the 4th May and im picking it up tonight which is around the expected delivery.

2) I got to pick my reg plate 2 weeks ago

3) My dealer is doing it for me

4) Wait for a phonecall to come collect the car, you need a covernote or your insurance transfered over for the seleted time your going to pick the car up.

Ordered mine 23rd May, got until "end of June" for collection.

1) Everyone that has collected their new Aygos recently has either got them on time or slightly early. So Toyota seem good at sticking to their expected delivery dates. And of course Darth_Sabre has shown you a prime example of this.

2) No idea about reg plates

3) Yes you can cash in the remaining months on your tax disc. Ask your dealer, they'll sort it out for you.

4) Wait for your dealer to call you with the delivery date first. Usually you pick up the car a couple of days after its delivery. You can make arrangements for collection with your dealer, and obviously you'll need to have transferred your insurance so you can drive your shiny new Aygo home.

Ours ordered towards end of May and June end is the ETA. Looks as if the time scales are about right.

When I ordered my Aygo+, I was told 11 weeks and that was about three weeks ago.The date they have given me is 04/07/09, so if they stick to that I'll be happy.

Wis I had more details on paper other than my sales order.

Sorry obviously didn't work last attempt..........

as regards MOT expiry:

The Scrappage Incentive Allowance saving applies to retail customers trading in a vehicle first registered on or before 31st August 1999 against the purchase of a New Toyota when ordered ordered between 1st May and 30th June 2009 for registration between 18th May and 30th September 2009. Offers available at participating Centres only. To qualify for the Scrappage Incentive Allowance the owner of the trade in vehicle must be named as the registered keeper and resident at the UK address shown on the Vehicle Registration Document (V5) and have owned the vehicle for a minimum of 1 year. The vehicle must have a valid MOT certificate at the order date of the new vehicle. The new vehicle must be registered in the same name. Scrappage Allowance cannot be used in conjunction with any 5.9% APR, 3.9% APR or Finance Deposit Allowance offer.

My daughter has just scrapped a family owned Starlet under the scheme. She wouldn't touch an Aygo after my experience but went for a Yaris 1.3 TR instead!

Yes, indeed that applies. But you have to take into consideration the length of time it'll take you to get your new car. In the case of most Aygos here, the waiting time is at least four weeks - and unless you're planning not to drive your old car for those four weeks, you'll need to make sure your MOT (and road tax) are still valid during that time.
