Carina E 1995 Hunting On Idle Not Lean Burn Engine

Recommended Posts

Very eratic idle hunting when hot starts ok runs well when cold but when hot will stall between gear changes.

Not using hardly any fuel gauge not moved in days?

Think its pointing to lambda sensor but need conformation ?

Seen one on e-bay for £40 what do you think?

Have you tried a blink code check to make sure it's the oxygen sensor? I think it's code twenty one.

It could be a pipe or gasket opening up when hot so check all vacuum hoses and gasket seals.

It could also be a faulty temp. sensor, do a check.

When the engine is hot try putting a pencil on each injector in turn and you should be able to feel a fast regular pulse from each one. I have just had my injectors tested and cleaned it only cost £24 plus vat.

:D

Hi lofty.

Can i ask you if you got your problem sorted & what was at fault.

I have a similar problem & changed the sensors that the diagnostic showed up last year & also had the injectors cleaned & serviced & that seemed to help alot with the problem last year but last week it started to act up the same as you have mentioned, so your cure may well help me.

Many thx

Paul.
