Ive just noticed that the Aygo license plate is stuck on with double sides sticky pads. Anyone had any problems with them coming off due to heat etc?

I thought stick on plates are illegal and should be fitted with screws.

I stuck some plates on one of my vehicles about six years ago, they're still there, no problem, although I used two lots of pads just to make sure, they look so much better than with screws holding them on.

Mines been fine, although a week or 2 ago there was someone who posted on here about it falling off when driving..

I don't think there is any legislation that states that registration plates need to be screwed on to the car, but you would hope that the chances of your sticky pads failing would be quite minimal.

Mine came with the plates screwed on, no sticky pads.

I dont think the Aygo goes fast enough to generate that much heat :P ;)

Enough pee taking, saw you're pictures on Auto Express, how do you keep the engine bay so clean

No oil leaks and just a gentle clean on a fairly regular basis...... Even the catalytic converter heat shield is still bright and shiney...........Not bad for over 2 1/2 years of ownership.

I was very happy with the Auto Express feature B)

Just browsing through the posts and spotted this one - the front numberplate on my MR2 is stuck on with very sticky pads.

It hasn't budged at all, I did want to take it off and put it back on in it's rightful place using a bracket but the pads will leave a mark. I've had it a year now and I believe the pads have been on there for ages.

The Police have seen me many times in it and haven't pulled me. As long as they are on the car, readable and legal I can't see what the problem is.

I would prefer stick on plate than screwed on as not all cars come designed with screw holes for the plate fixings. dealerships (thinking Fiat on the 500) just screw bolts in which causes possible rust traps and damage to the bodywork behind the number plate.

I would highly doubt the Police would pull you. Why would plates be illegal if stuck on with sticky pads if car makers fit them?
