Hi people,

Wondering if there are any carbon fibre bonnets for the seo?

If not I think it'll have to be custom made. Anyone in South England that can do that? I found one place in Scotland... lost the site tho :crybaby:

Too bad you got a 2G and are across the pond. I'm getting a group buy going for the 1G here. We have some people that have 2G's that want some, but we don't know if we can get the required 10 people together. If you don't mind spending alot of money for shipping, you are more than welcome to join us!

Ain't gonna be cheap custom made, thats for sure :(

Been toying with the idea of a carbon vent to get more cold air to the induction kit. Just a small one but not sure if it'll ruin the lines of the car <_<

I have a couple of tame moulders who could make a mould from a Paseo bonnet and make in carbon or carbon/kevlar

Just to clarify things, the 1G Carbonfiber hood is available now thanks to TRE at PaseoPIMP and Eric the owner of EL Prototypes. We will have pics as soon as the first hood is 100% done and on TRE's car. No need for 10 buyers. I'll get you guys prices soon. We are working on trunklids and fenders for 1G. Still trying to get interest up for the 2G hoods before we move forward on that. Thanks!

If someone would like to sneak round and put a real carbon fibre bonnet on, I'm more than happy to let them

They can add a respray, some decent graphics as well, oh and I'd quite like a turbo :P

so tame mouldings in norwich do carbon hoods!! Wow!!

Wat does everyone think of carbon bonnets?? Im undecided coz i cant decide whether they look good or not??

Wat you rekon on a silver seo?

Personally I detest the current fashion for exposed carbon fibre on anything external. I would always recommend having the panel painted as it also adds a layer of protection on top and makes the car less obvious, which in todays climate where car parks nationwide are regularly patrolled by local thugs, keeping the car looking quite normal is going to be a bonus!

Costs:

The mould will cost several hundred pounds to make. This cost has be be recovered over the first few bonnets.

Materials - Woven glassfibre cloth costs about £ 3.50 per metre. Carbon Fibre is 1/3 the weight of woven glassfibre, but costs £ 55.00 per metre. The resin is also about 3 times the cost to normal glassfibre...

i knew that they werent cheap!! Yeah i think that thanks to the uk car park thug it might be best to keep the original bonnet! They look good in the states but maybe not here.

lol - thought u'd like the pic dan!

I was reading a book on fibreglass and carbon fibre / kevlar panel making. Its possible that I misunderstood it, or the techicalities have been solved, but the book clearly stated that both Kevlar and the Epoxy resins used in CF and Kevlar bonnets degraded under UV light...

Posted

yeh they do.

thats why its better to spend more on the UV treated ones...
