Super Strut Replacement

Hi guys.

I have just got myself a jap import 94 ss-!! with the superstrut setup. I have got some information about the setup but i`m still not 100% sure exactly what i would need to replace if something went wrong.

What parts are in the superstrut system and how much do they cost to replace?

Does the whole system go at once and everything needs replaced?

Sorry about the newbie question.

Regards

camber arm 1 and 2 , fig 8 link arm .

usually you need to change arm 1 and link arm , as they are joined and wear together its the best route .

costs are as follows - i hope you are seated. -

fig 8 link arm = Price: £88.26 + £13.24 vat each

camber arm 1 = Price: £295.85 + £44.38 vat each ( unsure of this price , i think tcb have missprinted it ???? )

camber arm 2 = Price: £193.31 + £29.00 vat each

genuine toyota parts available here - http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/

Oh the joys of owning an import lol.

Im guessing this is the most expensive work that will need to be carried out on the celica at one time. The car has just hit 90k and im sure i read they usual go between 80-90k. Theres no knocking at the moment but i better start putting money in the car fund.

Thanks for the quick reply.

90k i d say they have been changed by now to be honest .

the uk celica is just as expensive for parts , imports are the same car , so dont get ripped off when you mention the word IMPORT .

Ive just had to replace my superstrut, car has done 89,000 miles. You'll notice creaking and knocking from the front end when it goes!! My driverside had gone but replaced both sides as you can guarantee the other side won't be far behind.

I got both no1 lower arms and a pair of fig 8's from japarts.co.uk for £650 inc. VAT and delivery, there the cheapest around atm.

Pair of crush tubes from TCB for £12 ish

No2 arm (banana arm) doesn't usually need replacing.

Strongly recommend that you get the tracking aligned after having the work done, it makes a world of difference.

i'd think superstrut would last alot longer on a ss2 than a st205 - due to the lesser powered engine. some say the drivers side goes because of the uk roads having roundabouts and stresses that side alot.

due to the cost i chose to only change the side that was knocking on my st205 gt4 . which was the drivers side , camber arm 1 and fig 8 . 5k later passenger side was still ok .

amazingly overpriced part if you ask me , vw's and audi's have similar parts made from aluminium at a fraction of the cost. pumping out as much bhp.

Yeah they are stupid prices, if somebody was able to replicate them to the same standard they'd make a fortune ;)
