Avensis Tail Lights

Hi

Went out to wash my avensis today and noticed that both the tail light lens are crazed full of hairline cracks :angry: . There is no visible signs of being struck with anything so I can only conclude that the strong sun at the beginning of the week has been the cause :(

Has anyone else had this problem.

Maybe there is a market there for suncream for Toyotas!!

Its a shame to hear about that mate. That sort of thing can really drag a cars looks down and it can be expensive to buy new ones!

My guess is that its the heat too.

You sure that it isn't just scratches though? It may have been vandalism after all.... :g:

No ,looked at it again and I can't see any way that you could get as much cracking without actually breaking the lens.

No ,looked at it again and I can't see any way that you could get as much cracking without actually breaking the lens.

Your only solution is to buy new ones really.

I don't think that it will happen a second time, you may have gotten a duff pair mate. ;)

This isn't inherant with all Avensis' is it?

I don't know nuttin about nuttin, mechanically, but find it hard to believe that the heat of the Sun would do this. After all, the Avensis is sold in far hotter & sunnier places than our 2 islands :P

Unless you were unfortunate enough to get dodgy ones, could it be vibration from slamming the boot shut ? My 2 Number plate illumination bulbs went, nearly simultaneously, & I put it down to that. That said, I use as little force as possible when shutting ALL doors.
