Hey there, my mate is having a bit of trouble with her aygo, she is seeing a warning light that looks like a thermostat in 2 blue waves constantly.

anyone know what this is? (never even driven a toyota so I have no idea) lol

Cheers

You car is overheating. Some Aygos had a faulty water pump, which leaks. You need to see a garage immediately.

Coolant level warning light?

See your garage

If you have it, get it recovered to your local Toyota garage rather than driving it. Coolant is very important to any engine, if you overheat then you can do untold damage. If you can, get it recovered.

I presume you mean it looks like a thermometer? But I'm wondering which color the indicator light actually is,

since as far as I know the mask on the dial-face is NOT colored, so the icons get their color by the LED behind it.

And because of that it is virtually impossible to have an icon light up in two colors at the same time...

I have a 2006 Aygo and mine will show a BLINKING Coolant Temperature Warning light (in red) when the car

is getting too hot and it will be continously lit together with the word "STOP" in red if the engine really overheats.

At least that is what the manual states it will do... The word "STOP" should be enough of a clue on what to do...

If the icon really is lit in blue it COULD be a warning that the engine is still cold, I know that there are

cars that have this feature (like the iQ), but as far as I'm aware of the Aygo isn't one of them...

Yeah I know about coolant and things, know a little about engines just nothing about the aygo one.

I am going to pop round to her house tomorrow sometime and have a look, I can only describe what she told me on the phone.

When she turns the key to position 1 there is 2 different icons appear with the thermometor and waves, one is blue waves and the other is red, and only the blue one stay on?

I will pop round and see if I can see anything obvious tomorrow.

1. When she starts the engine from cold does the blue light come on an stay on?

2. Does it go out after a driving the car for a while and stay out?

3. Does the red one come on after driving even more?

1. If yes, perfectly normal, the blue indicator light is informing you that the engine isn't up to normal operating temperature yet.

2. The light is now out, this tells you that the engine has now reached normal operating temperature.

3. If yes, the engine is overheating and the red indicator light has come on to tell you to stop.

I had a 51 plate Yaris a few years ago and this is how the temperature gauge worked, there wasn't an actual gauge on the dash (digital) only the temperature indicator lights as I have described above.

Well it turns out it isnt an aygo she has......... its a yaris and that is one of the featrues of a yaris (like the guy above said)

Oh boy... Glad you got it sorted though...

And good on her part that she actually noticed the light and wondered what the

problem was, some of "them" just drive on, eventually breaking down or worse...
