Cooling System

I have left my car in because i had to refill the cooling system in two months they have just phone me saying that they will need the car for 3 days as the head gasket needs replaced is this a fault with these cars its an 07 auris d4d

You've left the car in? In what the dealership? Because you had to top up the cooling system?

If the head gasket has gone it means the gasket between the bottom half (bottom end) and top half (the head) has broken down and let the water and oil mix as well as drop the compression ratio.

The head needs to come off, the bottom end skimmed to take away any warping, a new gasket fitted and depending on the engine a new cam belt or chain may also need fitted. Is it very high mileage or not very well looked after. Rare for them to go after only 2 years (unless its a Rover K-Series in which its rare for them to make it to the shops and back ;))
