How to install a variable interval wiper switch?

The standard wiper switch of the 107-Aygo-C1 has one interval speed.

But I discovered that the standard wiper switch can easily be replaced by a different type of wiper switch which is used in other cars made by Toyota. This type of wiper switch has a variable interval option and you can manually set the intervaltime in 4 steps. The intervaltime of the 4 steps is around 2, 4, 6, en 8 seconds.

The variable interval is "inside" the electronics of the wiper switch and this modification 100% plug & play.

You only have to change the switches and nothing else should be done for this modification.

Remark:

The variable interval wiper switch also has an interval option for the rear wiper, this is the LO option.

But this LO option does not work in the 107-Aygo-C1 and it is the same as the OFF option.

At this moment the wiper switch of a Toyota Auris and a Toyota Prius can be used for this modification.

The Toyota partnumber for this type of wiper switch is: 84652-48110

Step 1: Take of the plastic dashbord covers

Before you can take of the dashbord covers you have to unscrew three screws.

Unscrew the three screws as pointed on the pictures below.

If the three screws are unscrewed, you can take off the dashbord covers.

Step 2: Remove the standard wiper switch

Before you can remove the wiper switch you have to unclip two connectors.

Press the lock-lip of the connector and pull the connector out of the switch.

Step 3: Install the new variable interval wiper switch

Install the new switch like the standard switch used to be.

Take the two connectors and plug them into the new switch.

Replace the plastic dashbord covers and replace the three screws again.

Job done , the standard wiper switch has been replaced with a variable interval switch.

The intervaltime of the 4 steps is around: 2, 4, 6, en 8 seconds.

• Step 1: 2 seconds

• Step 2: 4 seconds

• Step 3: 6 seconds

• Step 4: 8 seconden

Look at the differences.

I also made a YouTube video in which you can see how the new switch is working.

Excellent write up!. I really like mods that are making use of original Toyota parts rather than aftermarket ones.

Is the new switch expensive?

Did you have to quote the entire guide, Kevin?

Nice "how-to" though, thanks!

And when you're looking for the variable stalk at a breaker, make sure you get

one that says "INT" on it. There are ones that say "AUTO" on which the ring

adjusts the sensitivity of the rainsensor and ths will NOT work in our cars.

On my car (and several others in the past couple of weeks) I've made a

programable inteval, variable between about 2 and 30 seconds without

any visible differences. This involves rewiring the stalk to accept

an external relay, for which I've use a Volkswagen "99" relay.

I have a spare one I'd be willing to part with, but shipping to the UK might be costly...

 Nice one !

The chrome internal door levers from a last generation Corolla are also a direct swap for the Aygo/107/C1's standard grey levers. Also the triangular exhaust trim from a toyota iq also fits an Aygo quite well

Do you have some pictures of those chrome door levers?

I've added the parts catalogue pictures to this thread

Didn't realise I did that.

Oh ewen1605,

I am sooooooo sorry if I have upset you by doing this. How could I have been so inconsiderate. Hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me...

In Holland the dealer price is around € 200,00.

So I recomment to search at a local wrecker or something like that.

I bought mine on eBay for € 18,00 including the costs for shipping. :yahoo:

Absolutely WONDERFUL MOD - one that I will be doing to my Aygo (when I get it in 10 days time)!

Dear Jan..

Reading your post I am very interesting to apply this external relay 99 to my Toyota wiper stalk which is only have 1 fixed INT wiper.

While I try to get Variable INT wiper by change the wiper stalk, but I can not get the part. So I may try another option which is to modify the circuit using my original wiper stalk.

So I am hoping if you can point or give me an idea how to this ? Because I may find that relay 99 is more easy to get here.

thank you so much,

Vincent

I sent you a PM.

But it basically involves removing the OEM PCB in the stalk and replacing

it with one I make myself with experimantation-board.

This PCB contains some new connections and a transistor with seriesresistor

to invert a signal. I then run 6 wires out of the stalk which connect to a socket

that accepts the relay (or a reain-sensorkit as I have it now).
