A Rattle From Under The Bonnet!

I have a Rav 4 2.0 vvti 2000 plate, and its been one of the best car's i ve ever had, but other the last week or so it has gained a bad ratle from where the cam chain is, i was told that suck on theeth" may be your cam chain streched, need to change the chains, along with sliders, and other bits, all for 3hrs labour £175 plus parts £255 oh and VAT @ 15%"....................... does this sound right?, i service the rav every 6 months with new oil filter and oil and change the plugs once a year!! unsure whether to get another opition???? any thoughts
