Ecu Diagnostics And Obd Ii

Can anyone tell me where you plug in to read error codes, and is this the same plug / place for OBDII ?

I'm contemplating putting a PC in the car, one of the super micro ones, to go along with a touchscreen, and wondered if I could get engine diagnostics into the PC to log miles and fuel usage. It would be pretty cool.

Many thanks guys,

The port socket is located on the drivers side underneath where the steering wheel is..... just about where your right shin would be if you were sitting driving. Have a peek under and you can't miss it. I've only ever used it for my OBDII fault code reader so i'm not sure about pc hook-up.

I have had the same thoughts as you, I tried with a OBD2 reader but with no joy. If you are going to try ne don't get the USB interface ones as I could not get the virtual com port drivers to work. As for software Pro Scan is good along with scan tool. Keep us updates on your progress as I still want to sort this on mine. Good luck mate ;)

I've put this little project on hold for the moment because of the cost and research involved to get it going, a friend of mine has on onboard PC and will probably get the OBD cabling done with his new car, so I'll see if I can try it out in mine first and give an update if it works for me
