Gen 7 Headlights Condensation Issue...

Hi there

My gen7 celica GTS has a issue with condensation always building up in one of the headlights. I was just wondering if this is a relatively easy problem to fix? Or do I have to replace the whole headlight? I also notice the whole glass on the headlight has gone a yellowish tinge color and am not sure if this is a result of the condensation always building up in there or if it can be "cleaned" so to speak.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks :-)

It might sound silly but when I had a Celica with the same problem I took the headlight bulb out and used a bent knitting needle with a rag tied to the end (make sure you cover the point up), after swabbing it out I then used a hair drier, it worked fine.

Toyota would have changed it under warranty if it happened then.

Remove the rear rubber plugs around the bulbs, remove the indicator and sidelight bulbs and wrap the headlights in tin foil, and put all the light on, inc full beam for 30mins, the heat will evaporate the condensation.

Then remove the lights and get some silicone sealant... and seal it around the join between the black and the clear... they will be be a breach somewhere which allowed the water in.

The yellowing is a side effect of UV rays on the plastic (the headlights are not made of glass) Get some meguires plastic x this should remove the yellowing.

Hey thanks guys! - great suggestions, will definitely check out that plastX polish product, a google search shows that the store right across the road from my apartment sells in!! Now thats convenient!!

I was also thinking I might just rip the headlights out and replace them with some angel eye halo projection headlights inside, cause I think they look hot. Just expensive thou having to ship them over from another country :-(

Dont bother with higher output bulbs... just get a H7 HID kit, which is literally plug and play. You will need to fit the ballasts somewhere but the output of light will be much better then any filament bulbs.

In my avatoar pics i have 8k HID's, pretty much as blue as you can go legally.
