Hi, new here and new to Toyota as ive had Hondas so far (i like my jap cars)

Well yeah I bought the car today from an auction (impulse buy really), the car was so clean for its age and sounded well so I thought why not.

Dont really know much about the car to be honest and hoping someone can shed some light on it and opinions on whether it was a good buy.

I may not keep it long as Im not sure its really me but Im hoping I'll keep it.

Heres a few rubbish pictures after just getting it back.

Well it certainly looks in great condition, don't know how many limited editions were ever made but if you got it cheap you should make a bit of profit if you sell it. :)

How much do you think its worth ??

IMO They don't generally go for very much, I have had several Toyotas (Including a CarinaII),Some dealers might try & push them for £795 ,but getting £500 is good going really.

Here's an ad I just found :

Toyota Carina Series 2 Executive 2 litre GL,

H Reg(1990)

MOT April 2010.

Genuine mileage 67193

Comes with lots of receipts including the original bill of sale.

It has only had 2 owners from new.

Price:£225

Location: Walsall

On the plus side, I think they're chronically undervalued. How can any car with as many miles left in it as that be worth 200 quid when a clapped out old Merc or BMW will go for a grand?

Well said man.

Any pics of your Carina II?

What year is it? How many miles? Service history? MOT etc. & how much are you asking for it? :D

Fantastic to see that older cars more than 10 years old with test and worth less then 2 grand are still changing hands in the normal way - rather then making one last disastrous trip to a main dealer to be part exed againsed a pile of dung like a brand new Hyundai :censor: i10 and prepped for one last trip to the scrappie to gain the 2 grand scrappage allowance.

Hopefully people who really enjoy owning old cars and driving them will decide that having driven the Hyundai i10 or similar - that really theyd rather keep driving the old car and that the new one is not really their thing. This i suspect is a more likely outcome then people think - because if you think about it - a 20 year old carina is a completly different (nicer in my opinion) car to a new i10. So if you really like the Carina - theres a good chance that you won't like the i10 - in the same way that someone who loves sports cars will hate MPVs.

Best of luck with the buying driving and selling anyway - if i were daf wales id keep it - but everyman to their own.

Best of luck anyway

Hello,

After years of not owning a toyota i managed to pick up one of the sister cars to yours, last week. Mine is number 261. It only has 44,000miles on the clock, full toyota service history, one elderly owner from new. It still feels brand new. Keep the car, i missed my carina II after it was written off in an accident. To find a special edition like this is a blessing. It has its critics, but the 1.6 4-af is a fine engine that will run forever, economically with enough power when you need it.

Anyway, i got some original parifinalia with the car including the original invoice for the sale. There were 500 of them made, sold at a bargain price of just £11,609.

I'll post some pics of mine when i retrieve my camera from a friends house tomorrow...
