Key & Transponer

Just bought a 2006 T2 D4D Avensis, very happy with it so far, but the seller only had 1 key for the car. I have managed to get hold of a blank key with the remote transponder fitted from a seller on the net, he says that you can get the transponder matched to my car by taking the original key to Toyota & getting it synced. Anyone have any ideas on how much it would cost or whether it can be done DIY. The handbook only says about the simple syncing with the transponder already matched to the car but nothing about replacement keys. Any ideas would be a great hlp, thanks in advance.

This has been covered may times in this forum, but here it is again. Haven't tried it myself so cannot confirm that it works

How to programme Avensis Keys

FOR 2002+

Procedure

1. Make sure all doors and windows are closed.

2. Insert master key into the ignition cylinder.

3. Cycle the ignition cylinder from ON to OFF 5 times.

4. Open and close the driver side door 6 times.

5. Remove the master key and insert the new duplicate key.

6. DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON

7. The new key will be registered after 60 seconds.

Hope this helps
