Hey im lex i fort id join the toyota owners club before i went out and bought a celica because who knows better than an owners club right. ok ill give you the basics im 18 and looking for a seccond car. My mate has a modified MR2 and sugested i look at a celica and took me to see his mates. well i kinda decided as soon as i drove it that i wanted one so here i am looking for one. I did have a fiesta which i sold and whilst looking to see how much it would be to insure a celica found out it was cheaper to insre for some obserd reason (no idea why its a 1.8 not a 1.3 lol) I have done a bit of research and decided to go with the gen 7 vvti because it suggests that the vvtli isnt worth it reali. apart from that i have no idea what to look for so can any1 gime some pointers and also just some info aswell. also i am a little bit of a tinkerer and cause i work at Halfords (well that what i blame the habbit on) like to modify my cars so was wondering if anyone knew some bebsites that sold parts ect. Thanks any help is most apreiciated!! :D

Welcome to the club :-)

VVTLI is sooooo worth it! - I love mine.

Just to note, some VVTI's have problems with oil burning/leaks - just be careful. Im sure other members will be able to shed more detailed info in this issue. VVTLI models didnt suffer this issue I believe.

Good luck with your purchase, which ever model you get. :-)

The VVTI pulls 140bhp, the VVTLi 189bhp. The 'L' stands for lift which @ 6200 rpm another 50 ish bhp is let loose!

You can have mine for 3995.

my advise is take your time , dont fall in love with the first thing to come along - do your own homework , check out parkers web site for reviews . 4 wheels and a body kit dont make for a good motor , its purely eye candy . as good as that car on eBay is , you need to ask yourself do you want an import and have the silly insurance to pay , also do you want to drive an automatic. buy what suits your needs and your pocket , looks can be deceiving.

You'd be barking to get a Gen 7 with your age and budget, a decent 140 (52 plate on) costs £5K plus, and if you modify it you'll struggle to get anyone to insure you.

Something like a 1.6 Civic or Fiesta Zetec S would be a wiser choice until you have more money and NCB.

i actualy looked at them and ive been doing research for a long time and yeh i no looks are decieving i dindnt fall in love with that exact car but i mean the celica as a whole. I have one years no claims which yeh isnt much but i have found the finances to extend my budget if i find a good one. i now have 7K to play with and 2 years free insurance fanks to parents and a friend of mine who works at an insurance brokers... modifiing i dont care about too much im not gona do anything to it unless i have to and on a stundents budget i dont have the money to tinker its just nice to see what can be done.

if your wondering how i found the funds well i owned 3 cars now i own 1( the fiesta lol- eBay auction fell through but its good to have a runabout) and insurance got refunded on my s3 that sold so thats given a boost

things ive found out that i want people to reinforce is:

best ones 2 go 4 are prieum/sports pack------what do you get cant find it out.

exactly how tiny is the rear of it i am a tall guy but have migets for friends lol as you do is it viable to have anyone back there? i have seen the back but dint wana sit in it in cast i got stuck haha

is the road/wind noise reali that bad i know with the gt body kit its worse but when i went for a brief spin all i noticed was engine noise.

ive read a few reviews that mention engine trouble and suspension colapse..... is this comon or only on a few cars? is it worth upgrading suspension aswell or is it decent handleing as it is?

i have been looking at the hyundi coupe...i dont know if anyone may have had one in the past or friends had one but is it a viable copetitor or is it worth sticking with the celica?

are there any other little niggles that people have found and i know toyota have sky high prices but is it worth having it done there or with my mechanic?

thanks for all your feedback keep it cumin!!
